asked the Minister for Education the number of (a) lay and (b) religious or clerical registered secondary school teachers; the numbers who are in receipt of (i) special functions allowances and (ii) posts of responsibility allowances in respect of each category; and the total amount paid by way of extra remuneration to the recipients of each type of emolument in each category.

The following is the information requested by the Deputy in respect of 1976-77, the latest school year for which the relevant statistics are available in full. The figures at (1) relate to registered secondary teachers who were in receipt of incremental salary from the Department of Education.
