The development of community-orientated psychiatric services is part of my policy. Such services are operated by all the health boards and they are being actively encouraged to expand them.
The steps being taken include the further development of clinics for adult, family and child psychiatry, day hospitals, day centres, and the further expansion in the use of hostels, boarding-out arrangements, training centres and community workshops for rehabilitation purposes.
