Vol. 302 No. 2

Written Answers. - Atmospheric Pollution.

346.

asked the Minister for Health if his Department has examined the possible danger to public health through atmospheric pollution caused by the uncontrolled dumping of toxic industrial wastes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy will be aware, from the reply by the Minister for the Environment to his question on 8th October, that the major responsibility for waste disposal rests with that Minister. I would of course be concerned if there were a danger to health in any dumping of the nature referred to by the Deputy and there is a standing arrangement for any Department to co-operate with the Department of the Environment and provide advice on issues which may arise.
