asked the Minister for Agriculture the names of the estates in Counties Cavan and Monaghan held by the Land Commission; the total acreage in each holding; and the names of the estates that will be divided in the next six months.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the Land Commission has any plans to acquire the Monaghan estate, Ardrumkilla, Belclare, Tuam, County Galway; and, if so, when.

The Land Commission have recently carried out an inspection of the property referred to with a view to determining whether acquisition proceedings should be instituted and the report furnished is now being studied.

Mr. Kenny

andMr. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture the amounts of money paid in land bonds for the acquisition of land by the Land Commission each year for the past three years; and if he will consider making these payments in cash in the future.

Issues of Land Bonds for the acquisition and resumption of land in each of the last three years were as follows: 1975, £3,540,280; 1976, £5,032,371; 1977 (to date), £4,995,147. As Deputies are aware, land policy in general is at present the subject of a searching examination by an interdepartmental committee and I would expect that there will be some references to land bonds in their final report.

In the meantime it is not proposed to make any changes in the existing system.

Mr. D'Arcy

asked the Minister for Agriculture when he proposes to divide the Mythen and Carrigan estates, Knocknasillogue, Blackwater, County Wexford; and the price per acre he proposes to charge the tenants.

I understand that plans for the division of the two properties referred to have been approved and an inspector will visit the area to arrange for allotment at a very early date.

The determination of the price at which lands are resold by the Land Commission is a matter which is reserved exclusively, by law, to the lay commissioners.
