asked the Minister for Education the names and locations of all institutions in the State in which children or juveniles are in care or committed to care; who owns and manages each institution; the number of residents; the amount of State grant; the degree of State control or involvement; if they have a mixed-sex or single-sex management; the age of the buildings; the corrective practices that are carried out; if there are visiting committees or inspectors; if such visitors are enabled to hear the inmates in private; if these visitors ever issue reports; if these reports are available to the Dáil; and if educational courses are pursued there, and, if so, their nature and standard.
