Vol. 302 No. 6

Written Answers. - Department of Education Capital Works.

245.

asked the Minister for Education the number of additional jobs in 1977 and 1976 involved on capital works under the auspices of his Department; if he will specify the nature and location of such works; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

246.

asked the Minister for Education the peak number of persons engaged in capital works under his Department in the period from 1st January, 1977 to 30th September, 1977; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 245 and 246 together.

The number of additional jobs created in 1976 and 1977 arising from this Department's capital programme is estimated at 282 and 384 respectively.

It is not possible from the Departments records to give particulars of the peak number of persons employed during the period 1st January-30th September, 1977. The amount of work involved in identifying the location of the capital work involved would not be warranted.
