Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - National Library.

59.

asked the Minister for Education if he will publish the report known as the Humphrey's Report on the National Library; if not, why; and if he will make a full statement in relation to the inadequate storage space for the Library.

The report known as the Humphrey's Report was furnished in April, 1971, by the consultant appointed by the Minister for Education to advise him in relation to the National Library. It was not envisaged at any time that the report would be published and it is not intended to publish it at this stage. Action has been taken in many respects since the receipt of the report and in the specific matter of storage space the position is as follows. Material has been transferred to the additional accommodation acquired at the rear of the former Kildare Street Club premises, at I and 1a Leinster Lane and to the recently built-book repository at Santry in which an eighth share of the accommodation was provided for the use of the National Library.

Further improvements will be made when the renovation of the Kildare Street Club premises recently acquired for the National Library has been completed and as further accommodation becomes available.
