Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - Health Education.

92.

asked the Minister for Health the consultations, if any, that have taken place between his Department and the Department of Education on the fragmented approach to health education at primary and secondary level and the insufficient amount of course time devoted to health education in this country's schools.

Officers of the two Departments, who are members of the Health Education Bureau, consult about health education in schools and the bureau is closely involved with schools at primary and secondary level, and with teacher training bodies to provide advice and assistance on matters relating to health education.

I concur with the view expressed by the Minister for Education, in replying to a question from the Deputy on 16th October last, that health education should be integrated into all sections of the curriculum so that the cultivation of good health habits and high standards of hygiene may be promoted.
