Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - British Invalidity Pension Recipients.

107.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why recipients in Ireland of British invalidity pensions do not qualify for free electricity allowance.

The extension of the free electricity allowance scheme from 1st April, 1977, covered invalidity pensioners under the Social Welfare Acts but not British invalidity pensioners. The question of further extensions of the scheme is a matter for consideration in the context of the reviews of such schemes which are carried out from time to time in my Department.
