Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Areas Scheme.

115.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when the present study of the areas included in the disadvantaged areas scheme is expected to be completed; and when a submission will be made to the EEC Commission in the matter.

The review under the disadvantaged areas scheme is being pushed ahead as rapidly as possible and as soon as it has been concluded a submission will be made to the EEC Commission immediately. It is not possible at this stage to give any reliable date for the completion of the review but in view of the considerable amount of material to be examined and analysed the work will of necessity take many months. I would also point out that the last review under the scheme took over one year to complete in full.
