Vol. 302 No. 10

Written Answers. - Foreign Industrialists.

121.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if it is the practice of the IDA to provide foreign industrialists setting up factories in Ireland with advice regarding industrial relations and trade unions; if specific advice has ever been given regarding an individual trade union; and, if so, the company and trade union concerned.

I understand that the Industrial Development Authority provide information on industrial relations practices in Ireland as part of its general service to foreign industrialists setting up factories in this country.

It is authority policy at all times to be strictly impartial between trade unions and not to advise companies about individual trade unions.

I have been informed by the authority that they are not aware of any instance in which specific advice was given regarding an individual trade union.
