It is not possible to give the particulars requested for commonages still to be divided in the county. Representations have been received in respect of some 50 commonages and these will be investigated by the Land Commission as quickly as possible having regard to the many demands of the land settlement programme. It will, of course, be appreciated that for various reasons—low agricultural potential, prohibitive cost of fencing, difficult configuration or lack of interest on the part of some of the co-owners—not all existing commonages would be suitable for division.

It is not the practice to allocate a specific amount of money for expenditure on commonage division in a particular year. The necessary expenditure is sanctioned as individual schemes for division are approved.
