The job-creation initiatives that the Government have taken since assuming office and which I have outlined above bring the total number of jobs to be created by direct Government action to 22,860, or well in excess of the 20,000 promised in our manifesto. There are also the further 1,500 jobs, direct and indirect, in the building and construction industry arising from the Government's decisions to increase the SDA loan and income limits and housing grants.
