Financial Resolutions, 1978: Financial Statement, Budget, 1978. - Public service pay and pensions
The total of £865 million for public service and other pay and pensions at present rates falling on the Exchequer this year represents an increase of 11.5 per cent over the 1977 out-turn of £776 million. I am setting aside a sum of £40 million to cover further pay increases in 1978 and the cost of the annual revision of public service pensions.
