Vol. 303 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullamore Speed Limit.

9.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give his immediate approval to the provision of a speed limit at Mucklagh, Tullamore, County Offaly, where children must cross the road to get to school but where a pedestrian crossing cannot be provided by the local authority until a speed limit is first provided; and, in view of the grave risk of accidents, if he will treat the matter as one of special urgency.

Provision of a speed limit at Mucklagh, Tullamore, is included in the proposals for a general review of speed limits in County Offaly which have been received in my Department. It was necessary to seek clarification of a number of descriptions of locations and to correlate certain measurements of distance as between maps and schedules to enable me to make amending Regulations. The necessary information was finally received on 16 January 1978 and I hope to be in a position to make the regulations shortly.
