Vol. 305 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Sewerage Schemes.

383.

asked the Minister for the Environment, in view of the fact that North Tipperary County Council have submitted a priority list for sanitary services, if he will allocate sufficient finance to allow the same council to advertise for tender the sewerage schemes for Rickane, Borrisokane, Borrisoleigh and the smaller scheme for Thurles.

North Tipperary County Council's proposals for the Borrisokane, Borrisoleigh and Puckane sewerage schemes have to be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for the water and sewerage programme and the large programme of such schemes at present in progress. I cannot say when I will be in a position to convey a decision on the council's proposals for these schemes, contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.

I have allocated finance under the small schemes programme to enable Thurles UDC to provide a foul sewer to the vocational education committee site at Thurles which is, I assume, the small scheme referred to by the Deputy. Proposals for a surface water sewer from the site have been submitted to the Department and further information in regard to this scheme is awaited.

Question No. 384 withdrawn.
