Vol. 305 No. 9

Written Answers. - Rumble Strips.

399.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider the installation of rumble strips in streets where it can be shown traffic is speeding at dangerous rates; and when a decision in regard to such consideration might be expected to be reached.

The merits of the use of the rumble strip, or other type of road surface irregularity, for the purpose of securing a reduction in the speed of vehicles has been considered in Ireland, as well as abroad. Apart from the legal implications, the results of experiments carried out would not support the general adoption of such a measure.
