Vol. 305 No. 9

Written Answers. - House Applicants Income Limits.

409.

asked the Minister for the Environment the income limits that are set for the eligibility of applicants for local authority houses.

No income limit has been specified by my Department for eligibility for rehousing by a local authority. However, each housing authority are expected to consider at their own discretion, the circumstances of individual housing applicants, including the levels of their incomes, in deciding whether they should be approved for rehousing by the local authority, or whether they could reasonably be expected to provide accommodation from their own resources, assisted by the generous State aids provided for this purpose.
