Vol. 305 No. 11

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

258.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction a sewerage scheme for Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois.

Laois County Council's proposals for this scheme have to be considered in the context of the capital available for sanitary services projects and the large programme of such projects in progress at present and recently approved for commencement. It is not possible at this stage to say when sanction will issue to this scheme, contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.

259.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a letter of consent to commence the laying of pipes has not been issued by his Department to the secretary, Ballybrien group water scheme, County Offaly.

The design for this scheme has been approved by both my Department and by Offaly County Council. When all the necessary local cash contributions have been collected, grants will be allocated to the group and work may commence on the scheme.
