Vol. 306 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Estate Acquisition.

185.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will request the Land Commission to acquire the Cleary estate, Thomastown, Golden, County Tipperary, for the relief of congestion among smallholders in the area; and if he will receive a deputation in the matter.

The Land Commission recently inspected the property referred to with a view to determining whether acquisition proceedings should be instituted. The report furnished is now being studied and it is expected that a decision will be made known shortly.

As the determination of the actual lands to be acquired is reserved by law to the Lay Commissioners, no useful purpose would be served if I were to receive a deputation in this matter.
