Vol. 306 No. 6

Written Answers. - LSF Service.

162.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received representations from a person (details supplied) in County Kildare with regard to recognition for five years' public service, under the Local Government legislation, for a person who was a member of a local security force; and if that person will be considered for a pension taking into account the five years which would be included with the period in the local security force.

Representations along the lines referred to in the question have been received from the person mentioned. A decision to grant him a pension and lump sum and the calculation of such pension and lump sum would be a matter for the local authority concerned in the first instance. The position is, however, that there is no provision in the circumstances enabling service in the local security forces to be taken into account in calculating a superannuation award.
