Vol. 307 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Radio na Gaeltachta Reception .

14.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the people in the north Connemara Gaeltacht area, particularly Cornamona, are unable to receive Radio na Gaeltachta; the steps, if any, he proposes to take to rectify the situation; and, if not, why.

(Dublin South-Central): RTE say that while reception on medium wave in parts of north Connemara may be less than adequate, satisfactory reception should be possible on VHF in these areas. RTE emphasise that to obtain good VHF reception an external aerial may be necessary.

If the Deputy supplies details to RTE of any individuals whose reception of Radio na Gaeltachta is less than satisfactory they will be happy to investigate the matter further.

: The people of north Connemara cannot receive Radio na Gaeltachta. Would the Minister take the necessary steps to ensure that they will be able to receive it? They are people living in the Gaeltacht, after all.

(Dublin South-Central): Yes, that is agreed.
