Mr. Tully

asked the Minister for the Environment the basic pay of road workers in Kildare, Meath, Dublin, Wicklow, Carlow, and Offaly, under the 1970 National Wage Agreement; and at the termination of the 1977 National Wage Agreement.

Note: (a) The termination date of the 1970 national wage agreement for Kildare roadworkers was 30 June 1972. At that time the terms of the national wage agreements were operated under a "house agreement" in the case of the Kildare County Council roadworkers.

(b) The termination date of the 1970 agreement for the roadworkers in the other counties listed above was 31 May 1973.

asked the Minister for the Environment the wages of road workers in Kildare, Wicklow and Offaly, under the national wage agreements in the form of a reply of 15 November 1977.

: The following is the information as furnished by the county councils in question: (a) the weekly basic rates of pay of road workers employed by Kildare, Wicklow and Offaly County Councils prior to the first national agreement were £15.22, £16.90 and £16.50, respectively; (b) the amount of each subsequent pay adjustment and the dates of the adjustments are set out in the following tables:
