Vol. 307 No. 9

Written Answers . - National Prices Commission Recommendations .

157.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he will state, in relation to the 40 recommendations from the National Prices Commission which he approved during the period 1 May to 31 May, 1978 the commodities in question and the extent of the increases; and, in relation to the recommendation which he did not approve, if he will state the increase recommended and the commodity concerned.

: The information requested by the Deputy in relation to the 40 price increase recommendations made by the National Prices Commission in the period 1 May 1978 to 31 May 1978 and approved by me is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report.

The price increase recommendation referred to in the second part of the Deputy's question was in respect of an application by the Irish Bakery and Confectionery Trades Association for an increase in the price of bread. I have approved of the commission's recommendation of price increases of ½p per 400 gram loaf and pro rata for other sizes and I have given effect to the increases at the retail level in a new Maximum Prices (Bread) Order operative from 16 June 1978.
