Vol. 307 No. 9

Written Answers . - New House Grants .

159.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will have a new house grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

: It is a condition of payment of the £1,000 new house grant that the applicant or his spouse, if any, either individually or jointly, must not have previously purchased or built a dwelling. As the applicant in this case did not meet this condition, a grant may not be allowed. He was informed accordingly on 8 May 1978.

160.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of £1,000 new house grants paid in County Donegal for (a) new house purchase and (b) erections, and the number of applications still to be dealt with.

: The total number of £1,000 new house grants paid in County Donegal up to June 16 was 45.

Statistics are not kept on the classification of applicants as between persons building or purchasing a new house or flat.

In County Donegal 335 grants have been approved and it is estimated that approximately 220 further applications are now being processed by the Department.
