Vol. 307 No. 9

Written Answers . - Community Schools .

169.

asked the Minister for Education if he will ask boards of management of community schools to ensure that all posts in such schools are advertised well in advance of 1 May in each year to give applicants and teachers in other schools an opportunity of giving adequate notice to their employer.

: I am satisfied that boards of management of community schools are aware of the need for teachers to give adequate notice to their employers and that they endeavour to advertise posts as early as possible. In particular circumstances, however, it may not be feasible to advertise the posts as early as the boards would wish.

In the circumstances I do not consider it necessary to issue a general direction in the matter.

170.

asked the Minister for Education if he has asked the City of Dublin VEC to sign a deed of trust in relation to the Greendale Community School; and if he will withdraw such a request pending finalisation of the terms of the deed of trust.

: I have not asked the City of Dublin VEC to sign a deed of trust in relation to Greendale Community School. The second portion of the question accordingly does not arise.

A request from the Department in March last to state the name and address of the committee's nominee as trustee of the school is at present in abeyance.
