Vol. 307 No. 12

Written Answers . - New Ross Fever Hospital .

184.

asked the Minister for Health if it is intended to close down the Fever Hospital at New Ross, County Wexford; if so, the use that will be made of the hospital; and the centre that will be used to treat infectious diseases.

: I presume that the Deputy's question arises from the adoption, in principle, by the South-Eastern Health Board, at its meeting of 11 May 1978, of recommendations made by Comhairle na nOspidéal on future hospital arrangements for infectious diseases.

While these recommendations provided, inter alia, for the discontinuance of the treatment of infectious diseases at New Ross Fever Hospital, I understand that the health board have made no decision regarding the future of the hospital.

The general recommendations of Comhairle na nOspidéal are under consideration in my Department.
