asked the Minister for the Environment if he will indicate, for each local authority the following information (1) the total number of applicants on the housing waiting list for local authority housing in each area; (2) the total number of transfer applicants in each area; (3) the percentage families on both lists that have (a) more than eight persons in the family; (b) more than six persons in the family; (c) more than four persons in the family; and (d) more than two persons in the family, as at 30 September 1978, or the latest date on which information is available.

Following is a statement of the total number of approved and unprocessed applications on hands of local housing authorities in each area:

Note:

(1) The figures in the table are the latest figures available to my Department and relate to applications which local housing authorities had at 30 September 1977.

(2) The required information was not submitted to my Department in respect of housing authorities marked with an asterisk (*).

(3) The figures for Dublin Corporation and Birr Urban District Council relate to the position at 1 May 1978 and 31 December 1977 respectively.

In my reply to parliamentary question number 440 of 12 October 1978 details were given of the information available to me regarding approved applications and the percentages of these applications by family sizes.

In that reply I also stated that no information is available in my Department in respect of transfer applicants.

Details of the family sizes represented by unprocessed applications are not available in my Department.
