Vol. 308 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

511.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport has not been granted to a pupil (details supplied) in County Offaly, who is attending Croghan national school.

As the child in question is now over ten years of age and resides less than three miles from the school, she is no longer eligible for free transport under the terms of the school. The vehicle operating the service to Croghan national school is currently catering for a capacity complement and it is not therefore possible to offer this particular child fare-paying facilities in the current school year.

512.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport has not been granted to three pupils (details supplied) in County Offaly, who are attending Gortnamona national school, Blueball, County Offaly.

I understand from CIE that these children reside in the Killurine closed school area and are eligible for free transport to the school i.e. Killeigh national school with which it was amalgamated. I am having the question of facilitating them on the service to Gortnamona national school examined in view of the fact that they have enrolled in that school.

513.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport has not been provided for a pupil (details supplied) in County Offaly, who is attending Kilcormac vocational school, County Offaly, since her brothers and sisters always received free transport to that school.

No application for transport to Kilcormac vocational school has been received in respect of this child. It is understood that she is not enrolled at present as a pupil in Kilcormac vocational school.

514.

asked the Minister for Education why free school transport has not been sanctioned for a pupil (details supplied) in County Offaly, who is attending Edenderry remedial school, County Offaly.

School transport has already been arranged for this child on a special service operating to Edenderry national school.
