Vol. 308 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Board Personnel Travel Allowances.

11.

asked the Minister for Health the travel allowances per mile allowed to different health board personnel; the percentage increase in travel allowances recently allowed to doctors in the health boards; and if he will give public health nurses an equivalent travel fee.

Standard negotiated mileage rates are applicable in all health boards. These rates are applied in a uniform manner to all eligible staff and vary from 6.9 pence per mile to 22.7 pence per mile by reference to the mileage covered and the horse power of the car. They were last increased in December 1977 by 24 per cent and this increase was given to both doctors and public health nurses.

It is the same for all?

Right across the board.
