Vol. 309 No. 2

Written Answers. - Inishowen (County Donegal) Water Schemes.

520.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the west Inishowen water scheme, County Donegal; and when this scheme is likely to be completed.

The Burnfoot/Bridgend section of this scheme has been constructed. I cannot say at this stage when the remaining two sections are likely to be completed. Contract documents for the Buncrana and environs scheme were forwarded to my Department on 13 October and will be examined on receipt of the local authority's own report on the documents. I understand that the local authority are having contract documents prepared for the Clonmany section.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the east Inishowen water scheme, County Donegal; and when the scheme is likely to be sanctioned.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in or getting to construction at present. I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to approve this scheme, contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.
