Vol. 309 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Flour Mill.

6.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the proposed closure of a flour mill in Cork city, with a possible job loss of 110; and if he will make representations to the owners to keep the mill open.

I understand that, as part of a rationalisation programme, one milling group is phasing out flour milling operations in Cork and expanding provender milling operations there. I am informed that the management are in consulation with the trade unions involved about the employment situation and that official intervention in the matter at this stage would not be warranted or helpful.
