Vol. 309 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Loans Scheme.

177.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the fact that many young couples seeking to purchase their houses have to work overtime to get the necessary deposit, he will issue fresh instructions to local authorities to ignore overtime earnings for the purposes of qualifying for either SDA or low rise mortgage scheme loans.

While I am keeping the income limit for local authority house purchase loans under continuing review, I have no present proposals for changing it or the conditions which apply to the assessment of income for this purpose.

There is no income limit as a condition of eligibility for the low rise mortgage scheme.
