Vol. 311 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Women's Prison.

5.

asked the Minister for Justice the up-to-date position regarding the proposed new women's prison at Kilbarrack, County Dublin.

The new women's prison will not now be built on the Kilbarrack site.

The Minister's reply is very welcome. Will the site be sold to Dublin Corporation?

That is a separate question.

If the site is sold to Dublin Corporation, will the Minister insist that it is kept as an open space and not used for industrial development?

The purchaser will acquire the site for a specific reason. I cannot compel Dublin Corporation or anybody else to use the site for a particular purpose.

I thank the Minister for his welcome reply.
