Vol. 313 No. 6

Written Answers. - Health Services.

255.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received any further representation on the need to revise upward the present salary ceiling of £5,500 full eligibility to health services.

As I indicated in the Dáil on 27 March 1979 (Volume 313, column 458 of the Official Report), representations had been received from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions regarding the raising of the income limit which will determine eligibility for certain health services from 6 April next.

I indicated then that, as a result of these representations and of discussions I had had with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, I raised the limit to £5,500. This limit will apply for the year ending 5 April 1980. It will be reviewed again before the end of that year.

No further representations in the matter have been received since my statement in the Dáil on 27 March.
