Vol. 313 No. 6

Written Answers. - Bird Conservation Directive.

262.

andMr. Deasy asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the implications for Ireland of the proposed EEC directive on bird conservation and when it will take effect.

The proposed EEC directive on the conservation of wild birds is in harmony with similar provisions in the Wildlife Act, 1976, and will not require any alteration in or addition to these provisions. The directive is expected to take effect in about two years time.
