asked the Minister for the Environment the numbers of families on the housing list of each housing authority.

The following is a statement of the total number of approved and unprocessed applications on hands of local housing authorities in each area.

1. The figures in statement are based on returns submitted to my Department by local housing authorities and ate to applications which they had on hands at 30 September 1978, the latest date for which the information is available to my Department.

2. The required information was not submitted to my Department by the authority marked with an asterix (*)

3. The figures for Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council relate to the position at 1 November 1978. The figure for Drogheda Corporation relates to 5 December 1978.

4. In the case of Dublin Corporation the number of approved applications includes 710 families in existing Corporation accommodation which is regarded as sub-standard.
