Vol. 313 No. 11

Written Answers. - Children in Care.

284.

asked the Minister for Health the facilities available for a child if he finds it impossible to live at home and the number of children taken into care within the last year from Dublin streets.

Health boards provide facilities for children who do not live at home and who are in need of care. When these children come under the care of a health board they may be fostered in a family, placed in a residential home or, if appropriate, in employment.

It is estimated that during 1978, on approximately 60 occasions children who were living or sleeping rough in Dublin were admitted to care.
