Vol. 313 No. 11

Written Answers. - Athlone National School.

314.

asked the Minister for Education the action if any, proposed to be taken concerning Camcloon National School, Ballydangan, Athlone.

My Department have been examining the question of the amalgamation of this two-teacher school with the modern central school at Rooty when one of the assistant teachers in Rooty retires next June.

The Chairman has been requested to put the amalgamation proposals to the management authorities of the two schools for their consideration and the district inspector has been asked to discuss the matter with the chairman of the boards of management.

While no precipitate action will be taken in the matter, negotiations are proceeding and it is hoped that agreement will be reached to the amalgamation proposals in the interests of the children concerned.
