Vol. 313 No. 12

Written Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

303.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will instruct the Land Commission to take the necessary steps to acquire the Trench Estate, Sopwell, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, for division amongst the small-holders in the area.

The Land Commission have no proposals for the acquisition of these lands, the greater part of which, I understand, is being purchased by Gurteen Agricultural College.

304.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the Irish Land Commission entered in on the Giblin estate, Leggatinly, Frenchpark, Castlerea, County Roscommon, and following a court ruling the estate was left to the owner on certain conditions, if he is now aware that the said estate is reported to have been sold, and the action it is intended to take on the matter.

Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the holding referred to were discontinued in October 1976 when an objection to acquisition was allowed by the Land Commission. The Land Commission are aware that the property was recently offered for sale but have no proposals for acquisition.
