Vol. 314 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

223.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of child dependants of recipients of unemployment assistance at the latest date for which figures are available.

The number of child dependants of recipients of unemployment assistance at 28 July 1978, the latest date for which figures are available, was 99,699.

224.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when disability or occupational injury benefit will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

Payment of occupational injury benefit to the person concerned has been made to 1 May 1979, when he ceased to be entitled to that benefit. He has been paid disability benefit and pay-related benefit from 2 May to 25 May 1979. The relevant cheques may be collected at the Employment Exchange, Mullingar.

225.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have a non-contributory old age pension paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

An old age pension has not been granted to the person concerned as the social welfare officer has appealed against the local pension subcommittee's decision of 13 January 1978, awarding a pension at a reduced rate, on the ground that the claimant's means exceed the statutory limit for entitlement to a pension.

A deed of transfer of the claimant's holding was executed on 19 April 1978 and the appeals officer awaits confirmation that the deed has been stamped before he gives his decision.
