Vol. 314 No. 8

Written Answers. - Children's Allowances.

227.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline the changes, if any, in Army regulations governing the payment of children's allowances to married men who enlist or re-enlist in the Army as and from 1 January 1979.

Defence Force regulations have been amended to provide that soldiers who enlist or re-enlist in the Defence Forces on or after the 1 January 1979 shall not be eligible for children's allowances. These arrangements are consequent on and in line with an agreement already concluded in relation to the civil service.
