Vol. 314 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oil Heating Supplies.

36.

asked the Minister for Health if any action is under consideration to assist those hospitals who are unable to procure adequate supplies of oil for heating.

The control of oil supplies is a matter for the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy, and hospitals and similar institutions have been designated as one of the categories receiving priority in the supply of heating oil.

My Department have been in touch with that Department in relation to the supply of heating oil for health institutions since the onset of the current scarcity and have also made inquiries from health boards and other hospital authorities. While there have beén some delays and cutbacks in the supply of heating oil to hospitals, in general sufficient oil has been provided to enable hospitals to maintain adequate heating. The position is being kept under review in my Department.
