Vol. 314 No. 10

Order of Business.

I am calling on the Tánaiste for the Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 4 and 8 (resumed); Private Members' Business from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 82, by agreement.

I wish to ask whether the Minister for the Public Service would be willing now or very soon to make a statement or be allowed time to discuss the very serious situation in relation to the garbage strike in Dublin and the health hazard that is being caused by this strike——

The Deputy may not raise a question in this fashion. The Deputy is well aware of that.

I have tried to raise it by way of private notice question.

Is the Deputy seeking to raise the matter on the Adjournment?

I would try to raise it on the Adjournment but I do not think I would be granted permission.

He wants to be heard in here, like everyone else.

I want to be heard on relevant issues. Is the Minister willing to indicate whether he is——

The Deputy may not raise a private notice question without seeking permission first. The Deputy is well aware of that.

I have tried to raise the matter on a number of occasions.

I am calling on the Minister to move item No. 4.

Will the Minister state if he is willing to make a statement on the matter or does the Chair have to shield him all the way?

I am calling on the Minister to move item No. 4.

On the Order of Business, is the Minister aware of the very serious situation in Dublin——

The Deputy is aware that he may not ask private notice question without giving notice.

There are very few ways——

The Deputy will resume his seat.

I have no intention of resuming my seat.

I will ask the Deputy to leave the House.

I will do no such thing.

I will ask the Tánaiste to name Deputy Keating.
