asked the Minister for Education the nature and number of the objects found in the licensed archaelogical excavation at Corbetstown, County Westmeath, where these are lodged and if they may be inspected by the public.

The excavations at Corbetstown, County Westmeath have resulted in the recovery of finds of Early Christian and Medical date including domestic objects such as bronze pins, brooches, iron tools, potsherds, quernstones and clay boulds used in the casting of bronze implements. A total of 361 objects has been recovered so far.

The excavations have not yet been completed. The finds are at present in the custody of the private archaeologist involved and may be inspected by arrangement on request.

asked the Minister for Education the nature and number of the objects found in the licensed archaeological excavation at Durbeg Castle, County Cork, which received £3,000 in State grants, where these are lodged and if they may be inspected by the public.

The excavations at Dunboy Castle, County Cork revealed finds mainly of 15th to 17th century date—domestic habitation refuse which included iron tools, glass bottles, a whetstone and clay pipes and pottery of late medieval and post medieval date. A total of 1,809 finds has been made.

The finds are presently lodged in the Department of Archaeology, University College Cork, and arrangements have been made to have the material transferred to the National Museum, where they will be available for inspection.
