Vol. 315 No. 1

Written Answers. - Midland Health Board Employee.

80.

asked the Minister for Health why an employee of the Midland Health Board (details supplied) was not permitted to transfer to another health board and maintain the one incremental date throughout each period of service.

A nurse employed in a permanent capacity by a health board is allowed to retain her existing salary if appointed by competition to a similar type permanent post in another health board. It is a matter for her new employer, who is the chief executive officer, to decide on her new incremental date. It is normal practice in the Eastern Health Board that the incremental date of a new employee should be the date of appointment to the board. In view of this the employer decided that the nurse in question should conform to established practice within the health board. This means that her next increment will be paid a year after the date of her appointment.
