Vol. 315 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Estate.

5.

asked the Minister for

Agriculture the proposals, if any, by the Land Commission to acquire an estate (details supplied) in County Mayo; if he is aware that this estate has recently been purchased by a private individual and the name of the present registered owner.

The Land Commission have no proposals to acquire the estate referred to. The property was inspected in September 1978, following which it was decided not to institute proceedings for acquisition.

The lands were purchased in March 1978 by two brothers who, it is understood, have since been registered as owners.

Did the people in question complete negotiations with the Land Commission in respect of other land they had prior to the acquisition of this estate? Those people had difficulties with the Land Commission prior to the acquisition of the estate. They had difficulties in the case of at least one other estate.

I have no record of any problems experienced in relation to the other estates. My reply deals specifically with the McNally estate about which I was questioned.

Are they now registered owners?

Yes. I understand that the land was purchased in March 1978 by two brothers who, it is understood, have since been registered as owners.
