Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - Mullingar Road.

38.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the dangerous state of the Ballagh Road, Mullingar, County Westmeath and if he will advance to Westmeath County Council money under section 120, Road Traffic Act, 1961 to lay a footpath and to make the road safe for pedestrian traffic.

The planning and execution of road improvements at this location are matters wholly within the discretion of Westmeath County Council and would not require to be submitted for my sanction. Any such work would fall to be financed from the council's own resources supplemented by the general (block) grant provided annually by my Department.
