Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - Wood Quay Offices.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is now in a position to accede to a request from Dublin City Council to meet a deputation of its members to discuss the possible redesigning etc. of the civic offices at Wood Quay and the financing thereof.

50.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that Dublin City Council is now anxious to redesign or relocate the civic offices at Wood Quay and if funds will be made available to remove any threat of surcharge on elected members discharging their mandate.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take questions numbers 49 and 50 together.

There is no change in the position regarding the question of a deputation which was conveyed to the corporation.

Any question of varying the scheme for civic offices is one for decision by the corporation having regard to relevant legal and contractual provisions. It would not be proper for me to prejudice any audit proceedings that might follow such decision, and there are no funds at my disposal that could be committed to such purpose.
