Vol. 315 No. 16

Written Answers. - Certificates of Reasonable Value.

51.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that some houses in the Griffith Court Estate, Dublin have been granted certificates of reasonable value; the criteria used in relation to these certificates; if applications are being made for all houses, and the selection process used.

Thirty-two houses in this estate have been the subject of applications for CRVs. Of these, certificates have been issued in respect of 17 houses. I understand that there are approximately 78 other houses for which application for CRVs have not been received. I have no information as to whether or not applications will be made for any of these houses. As the Deputy is aware from my reply to recent questions on the same subject there is at present no legal obligation on builders providing new houses for sale to obtain CRVs. All applications were determined on the basis of the standard criteria used in the assessment of reasonable value. The houses on this estate varied as to type and price—widely differing prices being charged for identical houses—so it is not surprising that some would be awarded CRVs while others were refused.
